Butter Keeper
Description:
These are one of my favorite additions to the lineup! A butter bell ~ also known as a French Butter Crock. This design originated in Europe where space is at a premium and the butter is often unpasteurized.
You smoosh softened butter into the lid of the butter bell. Then you place a small amount of water into the base of the butter bell. Once you replace the lid, the water creates a bacterial seal keeping your butter fresh for longer. You have room temperature spreadable butter all the time!
As many have noted, when you have a plate and cover butter dish; the dish gets dirty, the lid gets dirty, and it takes up more space on the counter. With this design there is nothing to get dirty as the butter simply stays in the lid, and when you get your desired amount you can wipe the extra back into the bell.
As the lid is flat, you can also take it, turn it and take it to the table etc and have a beautiful piece on the table holding your butter!

Each butter bell is thrown and trimmed by hand. Each design is intuitively created on each piece every time. The details below are approximate since each butter bell is uniquely crafted. I take additional steps at each part of the making process to ensure that the feel of the clay has the luxurious feel of a smooth river stone.
